The Trust

The you in my mind

Of course I would not let that go for

Something poorer

Something so close to reality

It is almost like a scourge

Serves only to be eradicated

Replaced with something better

The you in my mind

I could not hope to find you

Anywhere, dear thing

Without a piece of me along with

Not because I am jealous

But because I live within you

And you within me

All the poems you showed me are there

All the songs you composed

All the books I burned, and

Gifts I destroyed

Are alive and well

Dear one, forgive my transgressions

For wanting you to stay and

Be my lover

Forever

Is not enough for me to

Hold on to your remnants

But there is no end of you, is there?

No end of us, nor I

In a universe where we all

Cannot help but belong

There is order and mystery

That conspires with anything

I could wish
